Lest stop beating about the bush, its obvious there has been a decline in the interest of folk racing TC's and people have been making the switch to buggies, afterall this is how FRCC and the SRCA started.
As a result numbers for the usual Friday slot we have is slowly dwindling but we need to reverse this and get more interest and keep the club alive.
Do the folk that race buggies on a Sunday not want to come on a Friday because its not a proper off road track??
As it suits me to race on a Friday night I am just wondering if there is any interest from others that race buggies on a Sunday to race on a Friday night instead of or as well as their normal Sunday.
It just seems to me that the change is inevitable and somethings got to give.
Your thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Kev, what we need first and foremost is to keep the members we do have, coming and racing. You did not set a very good example on friday night, it wasn't even 7pm by the time you left! and your supposed to be the vice chairman. Lead by example.
Those who did stay and turned up after you left, had a good nights racing. There were 3 heats racing ,9 tourers and 2 buggies.
The people who race buggies on a Sunday do so as it suits them, and the tracks are awesome. They take a while to build and it is just not possible to build a decent track, race, and then put it away at the end of the night, in our Friday time slot. We struggle to get racers to tidy up the track as it is, let alone tidy away an offroad track, this is one of the reasons weve lost several racers, and not just this year.
By all means people can race buggies, mardaves, 12th scale, F1, whatever they want, as long as theres enough to make a heat up, and yes I think we should publicise and advertise the fact. Ive tried to get the homepage changed to reflect this but its like pulling teeth. If the website was easier to update and change I would happily do it, however at the moment it doesnt look likely unless we change the whole site, and I would like to speak to Smally to see if its feasable, but as he's rarely at the club its not that easy.

kev
the srca did not start by racing offroad
it became the srca following on from the good work of the smtca
that stands for scottish model touring car assosciation
please get your facts correct before you post utter garbage
it is a shame that tc racing is in decline but as allways thats just the way it goes
hopefully we can get enough interest to hold the srca agm but as yet the only person asking about it is smally
thanx again

Thanks gordon, I kind of knew the answer when no one but yourself replied to my last post in January.
Colin, I am still waiting for the list of changes from yourself or Kevin.

Well I stand corrected then.
As far as I was aware when I started racing some 20 years ago at the old FRCC hall the only Scottish outdoor series was offroad. Assuming this was called the SRCA at the time, if it wasn't then no big deal.
Back then I don't even recall tourers being in existence yet apart from folk running modified buggies on road with wide shells.
Fair enough I did not lead by example on this occasion but I have been in attendance virtually every Friday for the past several years so its not really an issue. Although it has happened before I have turned up to a handful of people and everybody ends up going home anyway after standing about chatting and that night just felt it was going the same way which was a shame.
Don't get me wrong I love my racing and a Friday suits best but with the resurgence of off road it seems to me like its to the detriment of TC. There seems to be many reasons why previous racers chose not to race anymore but if we knew what they were then perhaps the club could remedy the situation rather than trying to guess the problem.

True but we are still no further forward in knowing why some folk are no longer racing.
Could you perhaps pm me folks email and I can submit some kind of questionnaire?

I have popped into the club the last 2 weeks and there has been only a handfull of people there.
Its clear that racing touring cars on a friday night is over. There is little or no interest now.
Off Road looks like it will be very well supported this year.
I think the club should move with the current trend and scrap the touring cars in favour of racing buggies on a friday night.
The tracks dont need to be as complex as they are on sunday, just multi surface, a few jumps and everyone will be quite happy.
I look forward to racing on a friday night and would hate for the club to lose it.
All the guys who are going to come on here and complain now about the end of touring cars need to realise that the damage is done and its over.
I suggest an EGM to decide which direction the club is going to take.

I'm hoping to make a come back this Friday if it's worth coming back?
Seems a waste after the fair bit of cash I've just spent renewing more or less all my equipment for 2011
