Should the club scrap racing TC's on a friday night and change to Offroad.
Yes or No.
I would miss TC racing, but if more people would consistently turn up on a Friday for buggies I would be happy to race buggies. I miss the buzz and banter of the club when I first joined, and if that could return through racing buggies on a Friday I would be up for it.
The tracks need not be as complex as the Sunday tracks but it would let folk who run both 2wd and 4wd classes the opportunity to concentrate on one class on a Friday and the other on a Sunday.
I've tried to put a poll in this thread but dont know if its going to work.
So, who thinks what?

Lets do it.
The club has to change in order to survive and it looks like all the guys that want to race now race buggies.

why not scrap the TC wood and replace with a buggy night? best of both?

Niall.
Hardly anyone is turning up to race on a friday regardless of the surface.
The club is slowly but surely dying a death and something drastic has to be done to try and turn things around.
Its the members club so we need to come up with a solution.

I've no interest in racing buggies so put me down for a no
Would a more sensible idea not be trying to find out what scared everyone away in the first place?

Discuss the possibility then instead of shooting it down!
After being at the club last night I fancy racing this friday but it is going to be wood.
Does anyone want to change the surface this week to carpet?

Ive no interest in racing buggies either
niether do i think that scrapping the wood surface is the route to go down as those of us that turn up regularly enjoy racing on both the surfaces and just because people have decided they no longer want to come to the club for what ever reason why should the club change to suit them
it seems to me although ive not been a member long that the club should be doing more to find new members and starting people off in rc racing to boost the numbers, it cant do that when the only advertising the club has is this forum.
The website needs overhauled and bought up to date as definatly when i first looked at it, it looked as if the club was no longer running which puts people off straight away.
Other things maybe to look into an advert in the falkirk herald something small that would at least let people know about the club where it takes place and such.
and what happened to the idea of going round the schools that i keep on hearing about this would be a great idea as this should be our primary target for new members as guys lets face it were racing toy cars.
Im willing to help in whatever way i can to keep the club going.
i refuse to believe that in falkirk and the surrounding area that there is only the small number of us that turn up every week that are interested in racing tourers and the clubs mission should be to seek out these people and get them racing with us :-D

If updating the website is an issue why not switch to making a facebook page for the club
just another idea
simple to put updates on and with the amount of people on facebook it might generate some interest

I think this contradicts itself if i am honest Tommy.
Every point you make is valid but if we don't change to what the members want then we can't draw them back in and it is the people with the kit at home like myself that we want to draw back first then actively seek new members.
I for one would not want the club to change forever for one member and loose 2 members but Me being selfish if it is carpet this friday I can say that I will come along and be on the phone to people I know who still have racing kit.

Facebook page is not a bad idea.
any takers on creating one and updating it? we had a bebo page when that was the key thing to be on but not may members had bebo.

I'll do the facebook page
i'll bring my camera along to the club next week to take some photos and a few videos
and Dave those members that want carpet are getting the choice of racing it
its not like were racing wood every week
the fact is that the people that are saying they want carpet arnt even turning up on the nights when it is carpet racing so there must be something else going on thats keeping them away

I can only go by what I have been doing and I have been working late every day because of a big project that ended on Monday.
from now on I will be able to attend the club but I was one of the guys that voted against having wood at the agm so won't attend wood racing nights.
That is where I am at the moment.

that's how I found out about it more than 10 years ago... but as discussed people today seem to run their life on Facebook - so that is a fantastic idea

Facebook......Great idea Tommy, and I agree with all your points. We definetly need some local advertising because there must be more geeks like us out there who just dont know that there is a place for them to be geeky. We need some more new members with enthusiasm like yourself, and an advert in the falkirk herald would be a good start. After this weekends great racing at the iGP, I agree we cant let the TC's die completely.

I could possibly come on friday, if its going ot be carpet to start with i was going to be going to broxburn. Could both clubs not club together and have a big touring car meeting every month or so? surely the two clubs being only 20 minutes away(i may drive a bit fast) and on the same night wont be helping matters.
(im just a newbie putting my opinino out dont shot me down)

After talking to some members at the iGP this weekend past, I would have to agree that we cannot change the calendar this far into it and I personally forgot that carpet comes around the next again week anyway for anyone wanting to attend.
So wood this coming Friday 11th March
