I've been on the forums on and off now for a couple of months and they're completely dead. I for one am gutted at the decline of the Once Biggest Club in Scotland, which in its day could have 55-60 people racing on a friday and the other guys doing their thing on a sunday.I noticed in the middle of last year just after the second charity event didn't go quite as planned that numbers were starting to dwindle. It was alarming at the rate they started to drop off at but myself and a core of members tried to keep the spirits and morale up of the few that were going everyweek which was hard. It then got to the stage where it didn't matter what was to be tried to get the numbers up, the interest just wasn't there.
Due to work commitments i was unable to race on a friday night which was a shame as i loved the Touring Car Action and i moved over to Offroad Racing. Offroad has been a revelation to me and my son. The racing's really close and exciting and a little unpredictable. The track's we're running on are superb with John Allan building some awesome indoor and outdoor tracks. NORA in Dunfermline is taking shape and turning into a classy exciting race venue. 2nd round was held there yesterday and the track since the first visit has changed massively. This venue let me tell you is gonna get better and better.
My main point in posting on here is that i think we as Falkirk Radio Car Club should be promoting Offroad Racing and embracing the change towards this class of racing. I think these forums should be made up to date with the focus primarily Offroad Racing, both 4wd and 2wd. The forums need a serious Revamp and quickly. We as a club are paying for these forums at a cost and if they're sitting totally dead no-one will visit them. I know the main Moderator and Webmaster David has been really busy with Uni and life and so on and does struggle to give the forums the time that they sometimes deserve so please don't anyone think it's a pop or a go at David because after all he gave up his time without anything in return. I can't thank him enough for his time and effort with these forums. I'm going to speak to John Allan (Chairman) and see what ideas he has, after all people do still visit and join the forums but there's not much for them to see at the moment and that's something worth sorting in my opinion.

Well said Scotty, I agree that the Forum needs revamping wih the emphasis on Off Road (back to the clubs roots).

I for one would welcome the chance to assist in any way I can (health permitting) as John and yourself know even if its only adminwise etc.

John and Isabella are the rock of the club in my opinion as are a few other stalwart members. I know that the credit squeeze did not help for many nor the costs in UK rising within the sport.

I would suggest that maybe a petition to the government based on the lines of getting youngsters out and off the streets and promoting community events might be the way to go; perhaps along the following lines:-

A larger outdoor/indoor venue for clubs such as ours that encompass the following;

BMX, cycling, RC sports (say buggies, touring cars, monster trucks, scale XC and Crawlers etc.) with the emphasis on towards giving the youngsters more to do in their free time that can involve their parents whilst keeping cost down to a reasonable level for most.

OK guys you can now shoot me down Ha Ha, but come on lets get the club back to its old status of the best and biggest in Scotland again.

Come on mates

Agreed Scotty, the old site needs replaced with a new one which is easier to maintain and update with new relevant info to reflect what the club does now...Offroad. I did try in the past, but I think that yourself with the help of Dale(I believe he's a bit of a computer nerd)could build a really good site with a busy Scottish offroad forum.

I quite agree.

Every time someone has came to me with an idea I have asked them to put it down on paper and email it to me and I will update the relevant parts.

I have implemented many things on the forum/website but without direction from the club/committee/members it will not change.

Too many people have a voice but little use it to help the club.

Thanks for the input folks. Dave do you think you could make yourself available to come down to the club 1 sunday to speak with John and myself with regards to doing something different with the forum and bringing it up to date pal?
This thread was never intended to upset anyone or annoy anyone. It's just purely to get the Forums busy and active again and in showcasing what's actually happening in Scotland and Central Scotland with regards to racing. These Forums used to be buzzing and i'd like to see them back to their best again, that's all and with the help of those that know what they're doing i believe we can accomplish this again.
Cheers Scotty....
PS too many members had memberships and never used them to support the club, hence the reason we've lost the friday night club.
