Hi,

I have just started racing and i am needing a 12V to charge my batterys from as my old one has gone quits on me. i was wondering what the best type to use without spending too much money, i have herd that the batterys for diesel cars are a good choice. What do you recommend?

Thanks

leisure batteries are the best for this type of use but can be more expensive but any 12v battery should do, if your going to do a lot of outdoor racing you'll need a big one.

You could always go for a 12v supply - there are instructions on this forum of how to build one, or you could always go for a much-more etc. power supply like I did.

Not too useful for racing outdoors though!

We've got a Maplins Power Supply and a small generator for outdoor racing, works great!

Interesting - how much did the generator set you back John?

Only around 80 quid, so not a lot and its super quiet and does the job well.

Ours was pretty expensive at around 135 quid but you can get them for a lot less than that, Leon and Marc Ritchie have another Maplins Power Supply (We used to have one like it) which comes in less than 50 notes.

It's well worth the money though as it saves you lugging a monster battery about, we also have a Leisure battery for when we go out with the savage and its a pain in the arse to get it from garage to car and then car to garage.
