Hi there,

There are a wide range of chassis's both 2 and 4wd used at the club. You might want to look at a durango DEX410 as they have oil filled gear diffs the same as 1/8th scale cars.....

cheers

Thanks for the reply Ross, what the difference between the DEX410R and the DEX410 2010 ? (please don't say about £100 lol:-D)

also what motors and speed controllers are you guys using

Hi Martin,

Ross is correct, the Durango is a very popular car and the geared diffs are very similar to that of an 8th Scale.

I have been running Durango for 2 years now, I had the Original 2009 full spec kit and currently an DEX410 R Version which I am running. The full spec kit has alloy sides/alloy servo and motor mounts and alloy front hubs aswell as carbon shock towers. The full kit is no longer available. Durango are releasing a V3 in the next couple of weeks/months which is to be priced similar to the R version at around £260, this is to the only kit offered by Durango with many options if you want to spec it up. The new V3 kit is worth waiting for if you are buying new. It will come with Big Bore shocks, new bodyshell, possible 14mm hexes front and rear. Check out mbmodels.net for more info.

On the flip side, you can still buy new a DEX410 R with carbon shock towers for £170 from MB Models, a complete bargain and makes considering a secondhand car worthless to be honest.

You should pop along to the club some sunday afternoon and have a look. Just a note though, this coming sunday 4th Sept the club is closed, due to people racing at the BRCA finals down south.

Hope this helps.

Hi Raymond, I am hoping to get along one Sunday and see you guys in action, also looking to pick your brains about what esc’s and motors to get, I also like the idea of 4wd as that seems the easiest to drive (for me anyway lol)
Am looking forward at trying electric this winter TBH I never thought I would, but with the winter we had last year I think indoor is the way to go lol

Ps. when does your winter series start?

We dont have any actual dates yet for a winter series, but we are hoping to team up with the ayr club and possibily Dunfermline to maybe have a mini series. But falkirk will be on most sundays through the winter so there will be plenty of racing.

With regard to electrics, when looking at esc's, try and buy something as small as possible, the durango is limited on space. Lrp sxx, tekin rs pro, orca, nosram etc all make reasonable small speedos. In terms of motor, for 4wd i would suggest either a 7.5 or 6.5. The latter being the quicker. With regard to servos, go for speed over torque, for 10th scale i would be looking for a servo at least 0.09sec. Batteries, 2cell lipo anything over 35c with a capacity of 4000mah + would be fine. You could manage starting out with just one pack of lipos, but two packs would be recommended.

Raymond.

Thanks for the advice lads, a Durango DEX410r has been ordered fingers cross I have it before the weekend :-D

I've been looking at lipo's on hobby king, what will the Durango use saddle or stick pack or can it use both ?

Am looking at the lrp esc at the moment, but can't decide which one :???:

The durango dex410(r) only uses saddle pack lipos and they must be no taller than 25mm.
JESpares have the LRP SXX (http://www.jespares.com/electric-models?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=11186&category_id=532) for £129.99 at the moment
