Mark Ewing and I discussed this on Friday, and we are not sure that it was discussed at the AGM. We both had a recollection of a discussion about the above topic, but realised some time after that it was discussed at the SRCA AGM.

I am almost positive that to use any new points systems, these would need to have been agreed at the AGM!!!!!

Although we probably can't do anything about it (in that case) it would be interesting to see what members thought. (With a view to a change for next year)

I would like to see it points for finals only as per most other series now. Your reward for qualifying is a good final position.

I'm not sure any of you are really thinking about this. Lets say driver A TQs, goes out in the final, doesnt go well at all and finishes 3rd, so gets 198 points.

Driver B has a nightmare qualifying, and scrapes 10th, then goes out in the final, drives his thumbs off, right through the field and wins. And gets 191 points.

How can that be right. Qualifying decides which final you've made it into. And then the final should decide your overall points. Can anyone name another sport where qualifying gives you anything other than your final position?

Points for only finals.

Keeps things simple.

that is a very good point, and was how we did it a few seasons back. I can't even remember why we changed to do it this way.

So if we ditched the qualifying points, does that mean you get 200 for the win, 199 for 2nd?

I think we should bump the gap up a bit if we do drop them, IE 200 for the win, 198 for 2nd ect

Thoughts?

can I change my vote lol

What do other clubs do i.e. what's seen as "best practice?"

What is being adopted in The SRCA and SCC Series, is that points should be taken from finals only.

I believe this is also the case at some other clubs.

Ayr have been points for finals only for the best part of a year
