Is the BRCA a bit of an unorganised mess this year?

That 10.5 page has been on the BRCA site for about 3 weeks now.
I sent Paul Worsley a email over the weekend again to try and find out what the hell the story is with the list for 10.5 spec motors and below is the reply I got from him. Not such good news coz he said 3 weeks ago that we would have a list in 2 weeks. I think the club needs to sort this out and come up with a list of our own.
Hi David,
Not received any samples yet, so cannot start the list.
Best regards,
Paul Worsley. (Tech Officer, BRCA Electric Board).

Thats just blatant lies. He has received motors and so far, none have passed. SOme meet the criteria but are not actually available to sell so they wont allow them on the list.

if they have been submitted for homolgomation and passed they go on the list.
do you know why they arent avaliable?

I know of 2 motors which have passed an LRP & Norsram (both the same just a label change) however these are new motors which are not available to buy in the UK yet so that is why they are not on the list. And when they are available they will propobably run out of stock real quick. I also know of at least one motor to fail the Trinity 10.5 although it will be OK for modified!.
It's a real shame this is taking so long to set up however we had a good meeting at SDRCC the other week allowing lipo's per the list sub-c and 19T motors. I still think sub-c and 19T will be faster however you can run a 19T motor all day without opening it up using Lipo (and just using one lipo pack!). Since we voted this in at the AGM I think the only way to change it is hold an EGM however as I've stated above we still have a good racing class using sub-c, lipo & 19T and the 10.5 BL motors will come out later maybe after the first race of the outdoor season.

As George says, they have been submitted and passed, but the electric board officer isn;t happy that they will be readily available to the public, so they're not on the list.

I think I saw these Nosram/LRP motors at the Nuremberg fair - may have a pic at home. I'll take a look later.
The Nosram was something like "Nosram Storm Evo Spec" or something along those lines.....if I am thinking of the right motor of course.

Novak SS 10.5T Pro is now on the list
Woo hoo. I would now be quite confident in saying that brushless will be faster than brushed this year.

Spoke with CML and they confirmed that the spec has not changed for the 10.5T SS and that the one I have meets brca list.

Does your motor have the important blue band on the endbell?

When we done some brushless testing at Carlisle last year with the Novak, it was a bit quicker than brushed.

The Novak SS 10.5 wasn't? If thats the case there is something far wrong with it. I used one at Stonehaven last year on a practice day, and even whilst driving like a tit, could pick any place on the track to overtake the 19t brushed runners, including people who beat me by a lap on the day. On a smaller track, it is quicker, but on a track like stonehaven, its night and day. The only problem I had was gearing it. I was geared at 4.45 (the max I could get to with a 52 pinion and 96 spur) and it was topped out less than a 3rd of the way up the straight.
The motor I had was the version with 12.3mm rotor and blue fixed timing ring. I sold it as I didn;t ever think it would make the list, but I've just ordered another one today.

Someone might have the results of 19t at the Cumbria GP, where Ron Paterson ran the Novak 10.5. Give you an idea of the speed of it. I cant find them.

the novak was not used yesterday it was the nosram, i was just having a sly dig at your statement

i would be very supprised if the novak was not any better than what i saw of the nosram yesterday.

Novak was not legal on Sunday so it would not have been allowed to run at Stonehaven during racing. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens this weekend. Apparently the Norsam needs to be geared at 3.5:1 so I'll need a 40 tooth pinion and a 60 tooth spur

That gearing sounds about right from what I saw using mine.

Remember guys that Dundee have chosen a shorter track than what was used at Stonehaven last year. Will this not have an effect of gear ratios.

Definitely. I'm talking about gearing for the full length of the straight

We ran the 19T cut through on Sunday and 4.1 was not high enough to keep up with a fastest brushed motors.
