Sorry guys, if you don't already have a 415 (or MS more to the point) its gonna be an expensive car! I'm sure you will be able to run it with the standard 415 suspension arms for carpet etc.
Due for release in September, I'm unsure whether it will be released through Tamiya Japan or America.
Cheers.

:D Definitely the forrunner to the TRF 416 I think as its pushing the motor in towards the middle like the TA05 but heigh all you 415 guys will enjoy it and it sure looks good whats the price for this bit of kit likely to be though????????
I'm waiting for the TA05-TRF which us also rumoured to be released circa 3months time, that could be interesting too

Price of the conversion kit is rumoured to be between £100 - £150, but I believe it will be nearer the £100 mark.
Info Scott got from Dave Spashett seems to be bang on with regard to selling the MSX as a complete kit at some point in the coming months after Tamiya see how well the coversion kit sells.

Is it still realistic to expect any regular club racer to be able to keep up with Tamiya these days?
Seems like now there is something new every week.
It got too much for me around 414M2 / Evo 3 days, it seems a whole lot worse now
ballsie

I think its a good idea, especially if its a conversion set. It means there TRF 415 which is now almost 18 months old is being kept up to date and every more competitive.
How many versions of the Pro 4 are there? I've seen 2 this year, the 2005 version and this Hara special edition! :D
I don't think Tamiya are any worse for it than any other manufacturer. I don't think one update to the model per year is too much, the 415 in late 2003 / early 2004, the MS in late 2004 and now the MSX in mid/late 2005.
The Evo incarnations, work the same way except as you know, they are for those who prefer the shaft drive.

ballsie the 2005 and hara pro 4 are the same thing
the best thing is you could actually buy a normal pro 4 and all the hara bits for less than a hara kit

Well, some rumours were untrue - looks like its gonna be nearer £160 for the conversion kit
Mid-September release according to Rainbowten, but they recon it's gonna come with a limited edition black trf t-shirt.

Scott - I've made further enquiries on that note.
I’ll cut a long story short ;)
Bigchris confused the comments I made as coming from you. Mark van der Velden had some sort of idea that that Andy Dunn was you dad – don’t ask me how he managed to confuse that one!?!?! :D

 yeah that was funny
Speaking of Tshirts - how does the idea of getting a proffesional printer to put FTR and our names on the back of them, since most of us seem to have or are getting one :D
ballsie
5th August 2005, 12:14 PM
Yeah, as mentioned on Sunday - I like that idea.

Well if I can get a few FTR guys interested I'll investigate prices 8)

It seems now that the MSX conversion kit WON'T include a lower deck so you will either need an MS or at least the MS lower deck.
Maxxed_Ross
10th August 2005, 06:52 AM
Any particular reason why it has to the the MS :?:
ballsie
10th August 2005, 08:33 AM
The MS has a shorter gap between the suspension blocks, it uses 46mm suspension shafts. If you sit an MS and standard 415 lower deck back to back, the differences are pretty clear.
Having said that, I'd like to try a bog standard 415 with the MSX conversion to see how it fits or not as the case may be!

you will se how it works on a 415 when my kit arrives remember ballsie

10th August 2005, 05:02 PM
there is no question weather this will work or not on a standard 415 as i have just noticed from the TRF race centre
*Compatible Chassis: TRF415MS, (also TRF415 equipped with reversible suspension)
so there is no difference in any mounting positions etc the only difference will be the chassis thickness makng say my car stiffer than say ballsies (when they arrive) which will suit me as i like to set my shocks softer than most :D
and as an added bonus read this from the same place
Box can be used as special battery case, storing up to 11 separate type6 cell Batteries.
so you buy the kit and get a free battery box superb
ballsie
10th August 2005, 05:53 PM
There is a difference in the mounting positions, of that I have no doubt.
I'm sure it will work, but you won't have as many options for altering the wheelbase.

One less thing to worry about then

There's a listing on the rainbow ten website for the Plastic Model and R/C Show 2005 ...
1/10 RC TRF415MS REFINE 2 69800YEN
That suggests the the MSX will indeed be offered as a full kit. That price is about £350

Interesting development over the weekend.
It was always regarded the the 415 standard car was better than an MS on carpet.
But, at the IIC in Las Vegas Marc Rheinard won the foam mod class with an MSX running the Evo IV / MS Lightweight suspension.
http://www.peakmotors.com/peak/images/news/iic/iic_marc_foam.jpg
In the rubber mod class he ran an MSX with the standard suspension.
http://www.peakmotors.com/peak/images/news/iic/iic_marc_rubber.jpg
I guess we all assumed that these guys run foam on carpet when in essence, this is the first I've seen it happen. We used to always see Marc run the standard suspension, but he was always running rubber tyres.
Rule of thumb - Foam carpet king is an MSX with the new suspension.
Cheers.

Upgrade Set has been released. Just waiting on them to work there way thru the pre-order list.
I'm not 100% sure if Tamiya have honored their promise of an exclusive black TRF T-shirt :?
I have one on the way at the moment, with 2 lots of 2 to follow.
Sorry Guys, I'll have to have the first one
Hopefully it will be here in time for me to have it built for next Friday.

superb kit and looks stunning but a bit on the odd side to build i thought. a few head scratching moments.
the only problem i have had is the rear shocks hitting the body posts (i run the posts the opposite way to the manual though) so i moved them in a hole :D and this is on my 415 not the ms we will see how it goes on friday!

Lads,
Ive been offered an MSX upgrade kit for £130 delivered in the UK, it's the last one the guy has - should I go for it??
Major dilemma! I keep thinking i'll havespare bits of MS aluminium lying about and won't have much improvement in the car......what should I do, is the £130 really worth it?
Answers asap as the guy wants to hear tonight!
Cheers,

£130 is a pretty good price Dan, I'd agree that its well worth it.
Your other option would be to wait until December for the MSX full kit to be released but expect to pay full car prices for it!
Cheers.

Anyone want to join me for a pre-order on the TRF 415 MSX full kit. This will be released in Japan on the December 9th.
Price (including delivery) is little more hefty that the usuall Tamiya at around £300 - £320.

the first full "refine 2" MSX arrived today - I was very suprised about how many hop-up options it comes with as standard, there's too many to list off the top of my head.
I'll bring it unbuilt on Friday if anyone is interested in having a look-see.

Tamiya USA will definately be offering a 4mm chassis for Carpet Racing compatilble with all 415 variants.
See here ... http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=1011
http://www.tamiyausa.com/images/product/720/1011/header_1.jpg
The trick adjustable diff will also be available seperately - http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=53889 - I'm not 100% sure yet if this differs from the version included with the MSX kit :? It would appear to as it states that it can be adjusted without removing the diff - I can't see how this is possible with the standard MSX diff.

I've just found out that this will only be available to buy from tamiyausa.com - that's a problem as you can only buy from them if you live in the US!!!
Looks like I'm going to have to negotiate an agreement with someone, I already have one or two people in mind. I'll be ordering one, can you please let me know if you would like one also. Price is likely to be between £60 - £70.
Cheers.

The 4mm chassis arrived today, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. That's the problem when you order something 3 months ago
New suspension shafts included too - I'm not sure if they are for spares or if they are a new size.
ballsie

I've found out that the suspension shafts are for those running the standard (original) 415 suspension arms.
