I was wondering what peoples thoughts were regarding Friday night. I have a predator built and ready to go, and a Clod Buster standing by. I have heard people talking about a caravan race, a team race and various other novelty events. Are we going to do anything like this or are we just going to have effectively a practice night?

I'm up for anything especially if the practice night is carpet. If it is a fun night ie buggies I think wood is better.

For a team event heres my suggestion...

If 2 drivers - 30mins each, using their own car and limited to 6mins max per stint (5 stints) changeover in pit area would involve changing both transponder aswell as well as tryes (this may cause a few of you to sneer, but i can guess a few fun laps towards the end with people running out of tryes/grip

If 3 drivers per team - same as above however, 20mins each and 4x5min stints
If 4 drivers per team - same as above however, 15mins each and 3x5min stints

A team event sound like a good idea. has anyone got any idea how to sort out the teams?

By ability is probably the best way. IE one newish driver, one that's been here for a while, one middle of the road, one almost top and one top driver 8)

This is starting to sound good :D

Is there a time limit or can you just run till you stop?

if were running a team event i say we leave it until next week as this hasnt been arranged properly

I would say either 1h 30min or 2hrs.

To start it could be like a final - each team put there best driver on the track for lets say a 3 min race and their fastest lap/3laps would be where their team qualifies on the grid. I also think bryces idea is good with each team using the same tyres and transponder 'cause pit stops sound like fun.

Yeah at any rate leave it until next week - then I can race too :D

Colin I dunno about you but I don't have batteries to last 2hrs! No I ment is there a set stint time. I think it would be a good idea if there was...that way the guys with 2400 cells won't be outlasted by the guys with 3800 or whatever they're up to now  I think 6 or 7 mins for the lower abilities and 10 for the top guys 8) That should stirr things up a bit

As far as a pitstop goes the transponder is a great idea, but tyres might not work. I know myself that there are a good few makes of rim that won't fit on my car, and I'm not very keen on someone else burning up my tyres :? Plus some folk like to glue/not glue them on, use inserts/not use inserts, if it's on carpet then almost everyone likes to use a different compound

If we go ahead with this my car will be carrying the onboard camera during the race :D

A set of new tryes split 3/4 ways...

If its wood, take the minipin off the rim...after all we are meant to be having a bit of laugh, one person doing all the work remember...

And if its carpet its easy, its a team event, and theres no I in team, middle of the road compound (ie a control tyre (essentially what we run on wood, unless you want to use Blue...)and enjoy trying to alter your driving...

If we start allowing everyone to pick tyres we will get to the old issue of costs, if each team starts with the same set, and is not allowed to change it, it will even things up

There may be no I in team but there is a ME in there. Same thing really

Ok controled tyres would probably be the best idea, but what about the wheel issue when using foams? You can't exactly take them off the rim :? It took me ages to find a brand that would actually fit my car and apart from Malky I'm the only one at the club that runs them :(

Is it the hex adapter or the thread/shaft thats the problem?

neither its the offset of the wheels because they rub on the top
turnbuckle

It's a common tamiya problem, moreso with the 415MS or Evo IV.

The Evo IV is the worst. I need to run at least +2 with spacers, therfore some wheels don't have a long enough centre hex and you end up free-wheeling, or if you don't the rim jams up on the top turnbuckle and rubs a huge groove in it :x
