View Full Version : Problems?

I've just come round the other side of the desk here to use mum's PC.

My Mac is sitting round the far side with a message saying Safari can't find the server www.falkirkrcc.co.uk.

Any ideas what could be causing this ballsie? I can't even access the homepage, never mind the forum, every other website seems to work fine, including other vBulletin forums.

Cheers

Very strange - can you try it again mate?

Tried it last night again, just half loads the bar, slowly. Then says it can't find the server.

I'm back on mum's computer but I've cleared the cache on my mac and everything, still nothing at all even from the homepage, but as I say other forums working fine.

Cheers

That's very strange mate.

Is the Mac on the same network as your mum's laptop?

Mum's is a desktop but that makes no difference, it's on the same network but mum and dads are hard wired, and mines is wireless.

I'm on a Mac at college just now, so it looks like something at home, unless its working at home, which I can't check right now lol.

Hi John,

I have had no problems recently with the site. I have logged on with my iMac on a wired connection to my router, and also with my macbook on a wireless connection, both appear to be working at the moment.

Strange ... but it must be something to do with your home network. Are you using Safari on the mac ? if so, maybe try firefox and see if that makes a difference.

Very weird though ??

Raymond.

have you tried defrag and scandisc to find any errors on your hard drive John, as that cleared my problems with logging on to FRCC even though other websites were OK?
Oh and clear your cookies file too.

Cookies is an idea actually - can you clear them John?

I would reboot the router and internet modem.

Still having no luck.

Have had the whole network on and off, and have completely reset safari (my Mac web browser) which included deleting cookies and the like.

It's weird and pretty annoying.

Strange one John, Did you try a different browser. I use Firefox along side safari as for some sites it appears to work a bit better.

Just a thought?

Raymond.

PS: Wish they would hurry up and release Chrome on the mac..

Both firefox and safari need to "look up" falkirkrcc.co.uk

Then both eventually decide that they cant find the server. I have my mac right next to this pc with both safari and firefox trying to open the forum.

Address not found. Firefox/Safari could not find the host server for the provided address.

I've got full wireless signal and can load up other pages instantly.

Weird...

Take it to the apple store in glasgow and they will fix it.

Sorry guys - been away for a bit.

Is this still proving a problem John?

Fixed now, dont know what done it. The whole internet was slow and I changed some things in accordance with instructions on a mac forum.

Fixed it anyway and the internets back to lightning speed with full access to everything.
