Hi Lads,
I don't want the whole world to find out about this so am not putting it on our website or racechat.......yet. Please don't announce it to everyone incase nothing comes of it.
I am in talks with, wait for it,...............MASAMI HIROSAKA!!!
Just for a laugh I emailed the general address for Yokomo in Japan just telling them about the 2006 Scottish GP and yesterday received an email from the man, the legend, the god himself saying he has never been, the track looks nice and if dates allow he would be keen to come..........WOW!! 8) :? 8) Funny thing is he started off email with 'Daniel-San'......shades of the karate kid eh?!
We'll see.........it probably won't happen but can you imagine it?? If we can agree a date which doesnt clash with either the Euro's or a BRCA Mod round i'm quite sure that Moore, Spashett, Cosgrove and Jeffries will be up(which would still be fantastic!) but to have Masami there!!!
I'll keep you posted - I had another email from him this morning, i'm just away to reply.
Hope to see you all soon,

lol You couldn't help yourself asking about the tamiya boys could you lol
Well done Dan
Maybe we could see if he fancied a race here on the friday before it. I'm sure we could give him a run for his money on wood

How would I contact Rheinard and TRF? Have looked with no joy.......I could probably contact Richard Isherwood maybe he'd know a direct email?
Surikarn & Hara are next on the list.....main thing with getting international drivers is cost, we've offered to pay for some of Masami's airfare and hotel - at least Moore and Spashett may be able to give him a run for his money in this cooler climate??
Any of you lads fancy being honorary PR for the Scottish GP to promote the hobby across here? It's for the good of all clubs in Scotland and would raise the profile of rc as a whole here, not just for the benefit of sdrcc and would be great to get some extra assistance.
Remember, he probably wont come! I've only had 2 emails from him.

:) It would be great if he and some of the others were to come over; maybe if the two clubs got together and issued a formal invite
(with an offer of accomodation with the help of a few local business people/councils?)
Maybe even put on a special promo event?
or am I dreaming again?
Good luck anyway
Malky

'over here', we got Barry Baker, Todd Hodge and Andrew Cartwright to come to an event thos sort of guys would never normally go to just by asking really nicely.
Putting up some cash for flights and accomodation certainly helped a bit as well though.
I got to say though, in Stonehaven you have 1 of the very best scale race tracks anywhere I have ever driven on !
I would bet that the 'big boys' would just love it !

I would go up just to watch if you did get some of the larger names to attend t'would be awesome.
I remember the turn out at Penicuik at Cluny Clays the night they got Mr Drescher to attend a club meeting :D

I am very keen to get as many names as possible.
Thanks to all of you for the comments so far. Please, keep in touch and suggest any dates and suggestions on how we can really get Scotland back on the map in the RC world and make the 2006 Scottish GP AWESOME!!
Cheers,
Dan

That sounds perfect John - would be great! We will get a radio mic like last time so you can wander through the pits!
Cheers,
