Just interested in what everyone is going to be using for this seasons modified racing.

I'll probably go the GP4300 route purely coz I've used Orion cells for the last 18 months without a hitch and great performance. I'm planning on running very low turns for Stonehaven.

I think the IB4200 or the GP4300 will be the way to go, i think i am going to save up and get the IB's personally, i will use these for the outdoor season. But for indoor i think i might just keep using the GP3700. But people are saying the Oscar GP3700 by team orion are really good for stock and 19t racing. Remember the 4200/4300 cells are much heavier.

However these are just my thoughts.

tbh all the difference in weight wont be noticed by us mere mortals!!!!!

The GP3700 Sp2's are supposed to have even better voltage than the Oscar specials, although all the 4300's I've seen have been well into the 1.20's.

if its mod were talking about the cells of choice will be GP because they have the market made up and have the largest capacity.
but for club racing i will stick to my 3300 purely because of charging times and with 27 or 19t motors your not realy going to notice the difference in power

Got 3 packs of Orion GP4300's in the post as we speak :)

I also bought a pack of IB 4200's to try.....for the smaller layouts at Stoney I'll use Vtec 3800's.......

I'll be getting LRP V-Tec 4200's as the LRP V-Tec 3800's were awesome last year with a 9 single. These cells seem to be the way to go with drivers in America along with IB 4200's.The GP cells for some reason are not rated in the Yankee land.I know Smart racing are bringing in the IB 4200's.I'll keep using my GP 3700's for stock and 19t racing.

emm, i had a looky on apex and the orion 3700's are the same price as the 4300's does anyone know if there is a big difference/advantage to the 4300's, do they need special treatment? like a special charger or anything like that. Also did anyone run 3700's with a 8turn at stonehaven last year, what was the run time like?

3700sp2 are seemingly higher voltage than the 4300 and hence better for 19t or stock.

I dumped 4 out of 5 runs at stonehaven with an orion 8 single at stonehaven running the original gp3700 cells. I managed to finished each time though.

I've ordered a pack of Orion Gp4300 and LRP Big Mama 4200s from ebay to see what they are both like. LRPs were £43 delivered!

I have just charged my 3 packs of Orion 4300's and didn't manage to get more than 4150 into any of them......that is fresh out of the box, without discharging or equalising them....maybe they'll be better after a cycle and on their second charge.....

I will be charging and using a pack of IB4200's tomorrow and will let you know the results. I will also be receiving some factory Nosram VTEC 4200 Big Mama's from Mirage next week (same as LRP ones) and will let you know what I manage to push into those too.

I know Scotty has had great results with his LRP VTEC 3800 Fat Boy's. His car was rapid!

I had no problems with a 10x1 v2 with 3700's at last year's GP.

I ran the 8x1 v2 at the SRCA round at Stonehaven.

Cheers.

First pack of big un's arrived today, the Orion GP4300. If you are into numbers then they are 1.222v and 508 seconds. That's a damn sight less runtime that the 580 seconds on the Team Orion website.

We'll see how they run ...

Will do, although I won't know how good they are modified until the first round of the SRCA.

I await the Big Mamas!

I await 1 pack of Big Mamas still!

The perils of ebay ...

... 6 loose Big Mamas that appear to be unmatched, no numbers, no packaging. On reading of the listing again alarm bells should have rung.

Having said that, I'll bet the performance is still excellent. What can I expect for £20 less than RRP!

Lol, thats why i always pay full. Never know what state they'll be in, but yeah if there 1.22v they'll still work.;)

Leon, with regard to the GP4300s - 508 seconds seems pretty common :( I think the likes of Hara and Rheinard are getting the big numbers (as always!)

I'll maybe give Apex a call and see the numbers that their packs offer.

I'll keep you posted ...
