Hi All,

Big Chris from Ayr, mentioned that the Falkirk Buggy club, may beable to put on a heat for Offroad 1/18th micros this coming sunday March 1st. I have put out some feelers at CSOR, EK and Ayr to see if I can rally some troops enough for a heat on sunday.

Would this be ok, will the club beable to accomodate a micro heat within the 2WD and 4WD 10th classes ?

Thanks
Raymond

I haven't spoken to John, but i can't see any reason why we couldn't run a heat for 18th scales if 3 or 4 were to turn up one sunday. As you know we are hardly overwhelmed with racers on Sunday's!

raymondkerr

Hi Ross,

I have managed to confirm 3 racers so far for sunday and possibly another 2 to confirm, I'll know more after our club night on wednesday, but it is looking good for a heat of at least 5 micros if that is ok.

I remember the tracks that yourself and John put down and would be great for the 18th scales aswell. I'll post to confirm numbers before the weekend.

What sort of time do you guys start at on sunday ?

Cheers
Raymond.

We are usually there from about 1 ish so if you aim for 1.30 you won't be the first to arrive.

Sorry guys something has come up with a couple of the EK boys, and we're not going to have enough to make a heat, last minute hitch. We'll sit this one out and maybe try and arrange enough racers for next time.

Sorry
Raymond.

I have a few questions though:
How many heats/finals do you normally have?
When does the day normally finish?
Are pit tables supplied and mains supply available?
Any tyre/motor retrictions for buggies?

KC
7th March 2009, 03:09 PM
4 Heats and 1 final.
Finished at about 6 ish.
Tables and power supplied.
Any tyre and daft motors allowed.

Coming along BT?

Bryan
7th March 2009, 09:57 PM
Aye :D Had the buggy out for a little spin on Friday so it would be a shame to put it back in the cupboard again so soon. I'll hold back on the daft motors this time, i'll leave them for you mate ;)

i agree that a calendar would be great but as i recon most people will find this club via the net then its always a good idea to check on the day before setting off........... its a great afternoon when its on but is just a shame there cant be a set calendar to get newbies involved and to ensure they dont turn up to an empty hall................ as if that would ever happen:lol:

7th August 2009, 09:32 PM
Cool, not too sure about this weekend as i've got a big night out planned. if i have no hangover i'll be off to CSOR to practise. If i have a hangover and sleep in i'll prob head over :-D

What tires do you guys run?

Malcolm Williams
7th August 2009, 10:27 PM
Yellow Minispikes or equivalent

mark79
7th August 2009, 11:01 PM
Do mini pins work?

rolymo
8th August 2009, 04:11 PM
mini pins dont work well at all! yellow minispikes are defo the tire to have! other compunds are pretty poor too!

Dave
8th August 2009, 04:35 PM
Any information you would like about the buggy club like what tyres, motors, etc please post here.

The buggy club will be on as per the calendar unless someone posts in the buggy section that it will not be on and this may be as late as sunday morning.

Cheers

Thanks for the tips guys.

Malcolm Williams

as roly says, they have too much grip so tend to topple buggy over on the bends

rolymo

as roly says, they have too much grip so tend to topple buggy over on the bends
i found them to be very incosistent from going strait on in a corner to hooking on others! set the buggy up like you would for astro (csor) n that should be a good starter. maybe slightly thicker oil and stiffer springs............ well thats how i differed the setup on my pred anyways. (thats from york to here though n both indoors)

mark79
8th August 2009, 11:39 PM
i don't have a CSOR track set-up for the D4 as i only run the RC8B there.
Shouldn't take me too long to suss out a workable set-up. That's part of the fun after all!

Looks like i'll be at CSOR practising tomorrow as i've managed to escape certain doom going out with my pals into the city (pity but it'll keep til next week). No hangover=nitro nice and early. Its round 3 next weekend so i want to get some quality practise in i.e 1/2 gallon of practise :-D

I'll def be up weekend after next. that'll make it the first indoor buggy fix for 15 years !!!!

rolymo
9th August 2009, 12:43 AM
cool! theres a couple of guys run B44s so id take a setup from them! the geometry's pretty much the same...............hey there almost the same car lol.

Yes we're on Sunday, Chris mentioned it to John that you may come through and 1.30 ish would be better.

John has just asked me to ask you to bring your pitting tables with you if possible as we use quite a lot of our tables to make up the jumps etc.

He has made some very interesting and good tracks recently, but they do use a lot of the tables to make them lol.:)

Hi guys i've just watched the video that Raymond did and it was awesome, but 1 thing struck me. You've got a superb track there but you're taping it to the floor in a lot of areas. The touring car club were pulled up for this but we knew nothing about it. I was shown a piece of the newly vanished floor on friday night that had a huge mark on the floor where tape had been and was asked to explain how it got there.
Just pre-warning all you guys that they're keeping an eye on the floor and will problably say something to you.
Please don't take this as a moan as i'm not the type to do it on here as most of you all know.

Duct tape will def leave a big sticky stripe in place. I've noticed it a bit at EK club.

Easy solution is to use masking tape.

The solution to the tape residue should come off with diluted washing up liquid on a cloth Scotty, I'll mention it to John next time we are racing Mate:-|

Well, fellow buggy dudes.

After some positive initial testing at the astroturf CSOR track with my D4 it seems worthwhile arranging some sort of informal race day or practise session there for us leccy fans.

There is power via a generator and we should be able to make the jumps more 10th friendly (they are BIG) i.e make the biggest of them into tables using ply etc. There would also be timing, a compressor to clean the cars and a raised pit lane due to it being a 1/8th nitro track.

I need to find out other peoples opinion in terms of when would be a suitable day for racing in general for everyone (i.e one saturday per month or whatever) so we can get a decent turn out. Ideally we would have people from several rc car clubs represented and hopefully some unfamiliar faces which would hopefully benefit all clubs involved.

Let me know what you think guys, in particular with running a saturday race.

Thanks

A couple of us at the EK buggy club are considering going down to Bury buggy clubs indoor series for at least one round over winter. Would any of the Falkirk massif be interested in a trip down en masse?

I'm quite flexible regarding dates from Nov 1st. Hopefully there'll be at least three of us from EK heading down as it looks pretty good. Plus the opening time is reasonable at 10am for driving down in the morning :-D

What do you reckon folks?

Here's a link to the entry details/ dates etc. :

Just checked my work rota for the coming months, and I can manage any/all of the days for Bury so I'm up for it. As mark mentions, the start time is 10am, so 3 to 3.5 hours drive down in the sunday morning should be fine and keeps costs down for staying overnight.

Looking forward to this, the youtube videos of the track look really good.

lol, wish I could Mark, but being a keyholder makes that kinda difficult as no one would get in, if I didn't turn up. But with any luck I'll manage to get it changed.

Mark got his Lipos today and his Losi brushless combo should arrive tomorrow so he should be ready. I'll keep you posted.

Great track today guys. Had a blast, made a couple of small changes, and my 7.5 seemed quick enough. New speedo next me thinks, looking for an LRP Sphere or a Speed Passion GT2.0 if anyone knows anyone selling ?

Should have a wee video up sometime midweek.

Looking forward to the next time...

Sorry lads for those that turned up today 25th October, the Caretaker double booked the hall again without telling me or John, , we are going to have words with him about this very soon.

As for next Sunday as far as I know its off till the sunday after, watch this space for details when I hear from John or can get hold of the Caretaker in person.

Sorry again Mates it's the way he runs the hall.

Bit of a nightmare today, traffic was diabolical on the way home too.

Its a pity as there was 5 or 6 of us heading over in total today. Oh, well! I'll be off to Bury next weekend so i'll catch you guys when its back on the weekend after.

Thanks Malcolm for the update, Mark G and I should be over on the 8th. I'm working on the 15th so that works out ok for me. Hopefully we'll manage the other weeks as well.

We're off down to Bury Metro tomorrow for round one of their indoor winter series, I'll hopefully get some video and put together something next week for you guys to see. The hall Bury have seems to be very big, so it will be interesting to see how their tracks compare to ours.

See you on the 8th.

Another good day today guys, good track layout and the turn out was very encouraging. Hopefully be up again in a couple of weeks. Working on another video, should have something up midweek.

Would like to try out a completely different track next time, some technical bits closer to the rostrum and maybe the wall ride at the other corner???? Just a thought! :-)

Well done to Mark G, on his win, the D4 was planted.

How about the straight at the other side of the hall going away from the rostrum to the wallride/hairpin. The big table could go on the other side also direction of travel could still be away from the rostrum.

I wouldn't mind 2 jumps in a row to make a rythmn section somewhere also.

Malcolm Williams

Track was good, and usually we do change track layouts Raymond, but the Master was not on seat this Sunday so was left to those available at the time M8.

I was glad to see what I believe to be our best attended meet (15 drivers) this year was a success, most encouraging for the club.

It was muted on Sunday as you are aware that we should run say a January beginning of season small competition over say three or four rounds; which I will put forward to John and find out when the hall is available etc.

News on this will be posted when known. Looking forward to your next video M8

Thanks to all for coming and for the ultra fast track clearing away, most appreciated.

Mark, having the straight going away from the rostrum is not really a good thing to do...... think its been tried before and results in carnage! because the highest speed corner on the track is then at the furthest away point from the rostrum - but i'm sure there are other things we can do to change things up and keep the layouts interesting.

glad you guys all enjoyed the racing - it was great to have a good turn out of racers.

If you want to host results and a points table I can give you space to do so.

raymondkerr
9th November 2009, 03:11 PM
Thanks Dave, maybe a wee championship of 6 or 8 rounds in the new year would be a good idea, either 1 or 2 per month, hall availability permitting.

Maybe have the straight on the lefthand side coming down towards the rostrum, a bit like what they do for the touring cars, and have the large tabletop on the righthand side if that is possible, Maybe having it this way would mean that we could still have the wall ramp in the same corner, and come off the large table top, straight onto the wall ride??? but I am sure that John and Ross will best advise on this as they have the most experience.

Really did enjoy the racing, we'll make every attempt to get as many numbers as possible to come through from EK on a more regular basis.

Hopefully we should make it through again the week after next. Video in progress as we speak, will let you all know when its up.

Raymond.

Well, Grangemouth to East Kilbride only 2.5hrs to get home in the snow. lol

Great day today, big thanks to the Falkirk Club and John Allen for putting on some festive munchies, I eat far too much rubbish, but still had room for my dinner after the mammoth trek home in the snow, the A80 was grid locked for about an hour and a half.

Good track layout aswell today, the cross-over worked not bad, if you could master clearing it. Looking forward to the new year and some more racing. Hoping that the charity event has a good turnout and that we make the best of running tourers and buggies on the same day.

Just like to wish all a good xmas and all the best of the new year, see you all in 2010.

Raymond sounds like you had a good run home........ I didn't get home until 10.45....... it was a total nightmare! and like you say its a good thing there was plenty of spare xmas food as i'd have had to eat my gloves or something!

omg! 10:45, theres me thinking we were unlucky. I couldn't believe the tail backs. The last time I saw snow like that on the motorway, was on the way back from cowdenbeath one year in February when we were at the Indoor GP, I remember heavy snow on the M8 just past shotts and we didn't get home until nearly 9pm, but that must have been at least 5-6 years ago.

Getting back to EK, we found that surprisingly there hadn't been much snow fall, but coming home from work today about an hour ago, it would appear that all the heavy snow from last night has landed in EK today, the roads out hear are pritty bad now.

The joys of winter, maybe we'll get a white xmas after all.

Have a good one.

Raymond.

How did i guess the roads would be a shambles? They always are with the first snow in this area of the country. I didn't see a single gritter out when it was snowing. Mental

Sorry to hear you guys had so much bother.

Great day today chaps. Good to see a healthy turnout for boxing day. Track was really good also. Sorry Mark and I had to split early at the end, but really enjoyed the racing and was good to see Colin, Fraser and Dale back racing again. Fraser's B4 looked really good on the track, and a good drive giving him the B Final win, also was great to see young Dale back racing again. I think he was more than pleased with the way his 201 went on its first outing. (Nice shell also).

I'll be missing on the 9th of January, but will be back again the week after.

Happy New Year to everyone when it comes.

All the best

PS: I think 2011 will be an Offroad year, roll on the Scottish Championship.
