Whats the deal, can someone make me a list of the latests cars from each manufacturer, price. Maybe some input into which are the fastest cars at the mo. I was on the verge of getting a Xray at the start of the year but then i found out john had one ;), im thinkin about racing again so im not sure what are the best cars.

Leon?
If you've got a Pro 4 then the obvious choice is the Hot Bodies Cyclone. It shares loads of parts and is proving very popular on the World and National scene. I can get the Surikarn and Hara Special Editions for a little over £300. UK RRP for the original version is £375.
I can sell you a brand new in box TRF 415 MSX for £220. Still the weapon of choice for Scott & Andy although my allegiance has waivered!
Xray T2 is awesome looking and I was tempted. John (and Allan) drive it very well with almost kit setup!
Yokomo BD is a similar price to the Cyclone and looks equally good. Stephen Cresswell & Colin Leslie are using and selling these. Simon Dawson bought one recently.
Losi JRXS is used by a few folk at the club now too.

Im not sure about the cyclone it seemed very expensive, if you can get it for less than 400 it sounds good, but i dont think that any of the parts on my Pro4 are worth saving cause we barely changed anything on it, so all the diffs and stuff are like 2 years old. The main reason behind not wanting another HB/HPI is due to the quality of the kit, nothing like a tamiya or xray.
I just dont really want a tamiya.
Xray are now run by tay racers so i dont want to go down that route again.
Losi ive never liked.
Yokomo seemed the obvious choice but im not sure about it.

I find the HB kit of a higher quality than my Tamiya believe it or not. I'd say the Yoko is of higher quality still!

Nobody mentioned the TC4 Factory Team, not sure about prices but that is another option.

kl,
Can you give me some links for the HB cyclone prices please. Are there much difference between special editions (price, build quality etc) and the standard one apart from fancy anodised bits?
I think the yok is about £290 which is a decent price for the standard and speed of the kit, im just not a fan of yok, so im not sure yet.

That HB price is a ballsie price with 5 day delivery from HK. You might be able to get it a little cheaper depending on who has them in stock.
The Hara (purple) edition isn't available until mid-april, but the Surikarn edition is available right now.

The build quality of the Cyclone and Yokomo being better than the Tamiya, i'd doubt that, but the guys with new cars will say this eh.All cars look to be on the same playing field when it comes to build quality.

Thanks guys.
I doubt ill be back at the club in the near future as dave is working double shifts in the shop. But ill be attending the GP and some SRCA rds, hopefully ill have a spanking new chassis to play with. I guess im gonna have to go with the one that looks the nicest.

i have to agree but i find its the small things that make the differences. for example
having changed from tamiya to yokomo and having built both of there top of the range kits i feel the yokomo was a nicer car to build (personal opinion) with less slop in certain areas like steering. i loved the diff on the msx but the yoks is easier to build. i like the idea of the battery seats on the yok rather than having to file the slots in the chassis. but i prefer the tamiya shocks because they feel that little bit smoother
at the end of the day you buy what you like i would however highly recomend the yok BD but then again i would recomend the msx too
i would firstly recomend a BD though

OR you could enter the raffle at the GP in June and win the nice new boxed cyclone kit I have here in front of me ;) ;) (Amongst LOTS of other stuff!)
I s'pose that doesnt help you if you want a car to actually race at the GP though....
I have built a yokomo bd and 3 tamiya 415's, they were all nice to build but having also had a Pro 4 I would say the yok and 415's went together nicer.....it's probably easier to get a nice smooth drivetrain in a belt drive than a shaft drive too....just my thoughts.

Slop was my point too, Colin Leslie's Yok has far less than any tamiya i've built (or HB for that matter).
But don't get me wrong - the 415 4mm Chassis is the best quality Carbon Fibre RC product I've seen - I'll bring it tonight, it's simply stunning.
MSX diff is still king as far as I'm concerned :) HB one is a nightmare - you have to build a thrust bearing, I hate that!

I checked last night. £275 from Hong Kong for the black one. Looks like UK prices are getting sensible now.
