Ok all......you may have heard rumours of a big indoor shopping centre race in Scotland well after months of hard work.....We are GO GO GO for this event. I received confirmation from the centre management this evening.

There has been a huge amount of time invested into this event already and I'll be taking you all up on your offers of help, we only have 10 weeks until it happens. If you're wondering why it's taken so long this is going to be one of the most impressive indoor RC car events in the world, the first in a shopping centre in the UK, there has been a lot of red tape to cut through. Risk assessments, public liability, distance from shops, fire loading, the list is endless.

There'll be an announcement tonight on the BRCA website and lots more info to follow.

For a feel of the area where we're building the track see my short video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35bLwWtjQ2E

A virtual tour is here:

http://www.360pix.biz/tours/unionsquare

The event is limited to 90 entrants, made up of 60 touring car and 30 1/12th drivers, the entry is being managed by the BRCA.

The hotel is up the escalators, the train station is next to the track (I mean through doors and it's right there!) and we'll be pitting in a hotel conference room.

As I say, loads more info to follow including sponsors and hotel info etc etc. Just wanted to send a quick update before having my supper!

Hi Lads, just ensure you email Adrian Jefferies with your intent on entering asap.

I'm going in to talk to the hotel management today or tomorrow as Adrian arranged some concessions for the event, not quite sure yet if we need a promo code or similar - I'll announce it once I know.

Cheers,

Dan

The organisers originally limited the total entry of this event to 90 racers, this consisted of 60 scale saloon and 30 1/12th scale. Due to popular demand and scale saloon showing itself as being the more popular class, the numbers are now being rebalanced to 70 scale saloon spaces and 20 1/12th scale spaces. Please do not delay in entering this event as it is now nearly at capacity.

Guys,

After several hours of discussions with the hotel I am happy to tell you that WE NO LONGER NEED PAT TESTING for our equipment.

I queried how they controlled people plugging in laptops and mobile chargers to which they accepted we don't need to PAT test.

Good news.

Yet more good news!

Cineworld are putting on the R/C Car film carpet racers on the Saturday night after the RC Banquet, a 10.30pm showing, looks like it'll be free entry too!

http://www.redrc.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/carpetracers.jpg

"Hitting the big screen, the feature length documentary ‘Carpet Racers: A Crash Course’ explores a year long journey into the subculture of grown men and women that make a living, or try to, racing radio control cars… professionally. The movie documents the ultimate victories and crushing defeats of five of the top carpet racers in the world in their quest to be the best they can be. Life in the small lane… it ain’t easy."

Competitors must bring along an extension lead for the pits, I suggest a 4 way which are about £2 from Tesco. If you don't bring one then you may not have power!

scotty
13th April 2010, 12:10 AM
Just a wee message to all the entrants that are going up from FRCC to please remember that you'll need an extension lead, pit towel and most of all Etiquette. Remember that you're representing the club at every opportunity especially with this event right in the public eye, so watch the language and so on and most of all lets all have a great time and get it up the English and Irish lol. (Sorry Scott K) Hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Just had a call from Dan, can anyone who has room in their car bring up some of the corner flappers just as a precautioninary measure so there's enough to go round.
Thanks

Who will be the race director and will there be any race referees?

scotty
15th April 2010, 08:13 AM
Another thing, i take it there'll be scrutineering of some sort yes?

Dan
15th April 2010, 08:26 AM
Race Director Roger Cosgrove (Ben's dad), Scrutineering Stuart Alexander (this will be random). All will be clear in drivers briefing.

scotty

Can someone from the club who is coming up for this event please take some corner flappers up with them please, it's of great importance.
Thanks again
Scotty
