Having finally sold all my LRP ESC's am in the market for something new. Question is which one?
Was considering LRP SSX stock spec but have heard good things about the Tekin RS (not the Pro version). Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Kev i put my Tekin RS Pro in the car for friday and literally **** myself, power and speed that i had never got from an LRP. Over the moon with it and to quote Dave McKeown " THAT'S F**KING RIDICUOUS". I went for the pro so i can do mod at the much more grand prixs.

I think any decent manufacturer stock spec esc will be decent. You get what you pay for pretty much with performance. The tekins are amazing, but indoors its not a huge advantage. Outdoors should be more noticable. I think i ran a lrp sxx but i dont know if it was the latest one or what cause it wasnt mine :P The only difference was tekin has much more power down the straight. Which you probably already know anyway.
There isnt much difference between the two tekins, the resistance is a bit less on the RS Pro, but at our level not really noticable probably. the RS has a limit of 5turn, Pro can run anything. You can get an RS for £140 which is really good i think compared to some stock spec esc.

I had intended to run mod at this years SRCA but that is non existant now so have now sold all my LRP ESC's. Have been on the various websites today and like the Tekin stuff plus the fact its updateable with the hotwire.
Have now sorted a good deal on the RS and the hotwire so maybe next week will see a return to the club.
For those running the Tekin RS/Pro what sort of settings are you guys using for running 13.5 & 10.5 just so I don't smoke anything. I don't tend to run any physical timing advance on my motors anyway.

Remember, initially it's not all about speed it's about getting the same racing line lap after lap - consistency is the key. It is far quicker to do a lap without crashing at a slower speed than crash several times during the lap.
It is good however that the Tekin may be able to "grow" with the driver's ability via the hotwire and sounds like a good buy.
Right enough, there is no modified this year in the SRCA, but there will be a modified class in the Much More Series as Scott says. I don't know how many drivers will buy a modified for three rounds. Maybe some of the drivers will use their 10.5's, I think John and Allan are intending to do that. Our van is full already!!!
The Much More series was discussed at Sunday's SCC and it looks like it is going to be very popular going by the people I have spoken to already.

To echo the Big Yin, i will problably run 10.5 in the much more but then again. As for the series being popular lets hope it is and we get great numbers going to all 3 rounds.

I dont know if a tekin is the best option for mod anyways. The timing boost and turbo is really best suited for stock motors i think. Those settings would cook a modified motor if set to high. I've heard tekins are being run in dual mode (which is like mix of sensorless/sensored or something complicated) with mod motors, because its much smoother and less likely to make expensive things go burny. But you still have an timing advance and other features. I havent heard anything about how they compare to other speedos in mod classes.

They're fine according to ll the forums and so on that you can read. Put another power cap on it and yer fine.

I fancy trying my hand at mod (outdoors though not indoors). I have ran a 10.5 on the full track at Stonehaven during an evening practice and it managed no probs.
I actually prefer the mod track anyway cos the cut through area on the stock track is narrow and bumpy and can make or break a good lap if you have to move off your line. Its an accident waiting to happen in some instances!
The track in Ireland looks awesome though!

Yeah last years round at stonehaven we ran the full track for both classes and the mod track is far better.
