As an incentive to introduce younger members at FRCC in the new year, do you think we should consider a class for Mardave V12 cars?

They are very popular for younger members at Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy clubs and are a great entry level formula. One can easily be put together for about £150 complete with radio gear.

I know one 'not so young' member who has one and would be happy to come and race it

I know there are plenty of other guys in and around the club with Mardaves.

Would there be a heat for them before / after the touring car heats on a Friday night?

I'm always game for new things at the club, so I'm sure we could squeeze them in somewhere.

I wanted to try & introduce 1/12ths but people were against the fact that they really need additive to generate grip.

Forgive my ignorance, but is additive really such a bad thing?

I for one would welcome mardave/1/12th say once a month at least or as you say after the saloons.
Maybe as it would encourage the younger ones, have one race to start the evening.
If you want to see if they like the idea, John, Ian , myself and anyone else who has one on the night could do a few laps on a carpet night to show them the speeds and laughs you can get for low outlays.
Just a suggestion, what do you think?

Additive would wreck the carpet that we run on.After running at DMS last year and using rubber tyres with additive on the carpets, they were completely soaked in the stuff and the carpets would be getting replaced for the following year.It created a wet racing line that gave out great grip but not any better than foams on carpet.I really don't see the need to run additive at falkirk.
As for running mardaves i'm right up for that.My daughter Chloe's wanting a car and these would be ideal to break her into racing.Cheap and cheerful racing.

I see - I suppose it's not a great idea to be rolling up carpets that are soaked with Additive - probably end up rotting in the cupboard!

The only thing that I see being a slight problem is that an extra heat would need to be put during the night, which would make the night longer. That wouldn't bother me, but it may others. I would suggest that should a heat be created, they only run on the carpet nights as I think it is difficult, and probably expensive to run mini-pins on these wee cars.

Again comments

Yes Alex i think the running on carpet's a really good idea and i don't mind staying a little longer on these nights.
Top idea m8.

When we start back on 05/01/07 I propose that, assuming there are enough weeks to run 2x18 week championships again in 2007, that we have two weeks of wood practise then two weeks of carpet practise including the Mardave's.

During the two weeks of wood practise it would be good to discuss the feasability of running a Mardave heat, and how it will work etc. It would be good to see a heat of up to ten cars out racing (I think we should limit it one heat to start till we see how it goes) The last thing i want to do is to p**s anyone off with loads of heats in a night! Would there be any reduction for racers who wished to race in both Mardave's and Touring Cars?

Are there a few Mardave's in the club, or do we need someone to supply parts and kits?

Who is going to work out the TC wood and carpet championships for next year? Or is that being worked on?

What do you think? Comments please.
