Hi Dom
Never heard anything about this.
Have all dates been accepted and agreed?
Never heard anything through the SRCA either!
Dom
26th April 2010, 06:51 PM
Hi Alex.
Sorry but didn't think SRCA was involved in OR racing - purely TC as far as I know. No intention of mine to upset anyone, just to run an unofficial series for OR, and as no other OR series was on the horizon, I thought it would not be a problem, if the dates stayed away from any other TC events or significant Scottish events.
The intention was just to run a wee series and see if it took off. If it did, then the plan was to bring it to the SRCA table in Nov and see if they'd like to do something permanent with it after that. If the SRCA want to pick it up now, I'd be very happy.
I didn't want to ask people after the SRCA AGM (when the idea started to gain ground) as you were all probably busy with TC and I didn't think it was significant enough to burden anyone with there.
And I can't take all the credit for the idea - Mark Harris and Raymond Kerr are the architects and they've had to drop out due to individual personal circumstances. So this project has been through a few hands before now (hence the reason for not considering SRCA properly).
We've got 3 clubs on board and green-lighting the project - Falkirk, Stonehaven and Ayr (who are borrowing CSOR for two events) and the calendar has been arranged. I don't think there's any outlay at present, but Ayr might have to pay to use CSOR, or that might be covered by entry fees alone. EK are also soundly supporting the championship.
I was speaking to Paul Worsley about gradings and he's happy to accept the results if the meetings are properly published and run to BRCA rules.
Let me know what you advise. Again, sincere apologies for not involving SRCA but thought it was closed issue - not TC. So a silly assumption on my part.
Feel free to give me a call - I've added you as a Skype contact so if you see me online, feel free to call.

Great news to finally have a series for the offroad. We were talking about it today the Falkirk and so far there are about 6,7 of us ready for Stonehaven on 16th. Hopefully by next weekend, we'll be able to confirm more racers.
We are planning on going up on saturday afternoon/early evening. Will the large pitting tent be available ? We're coming with a large tent, but it would be good if we could make use of Stonehaven's are tent for pitting.
Looking forward to this, lets hope the weather will be on our side..

It's put up most, if not all, of the time I think, and all the folks at Stonehaven need is a hand to put them up. If you help put them up, then you can pit inside, if there's room.
If there's a lot of people coming, there's actually two party tents - lets see is we can get them both filled!
I'll confirm with George and post an update.

There normally is. Bring a long extension lead and you'll be fine.
Or if you are in the Party tents, there'll be a power point nearby.

Hi Guys,
We spent quite a bit of time and money upgrading the mains at the venue about 2 years ago and it's now even better ;)
Ross, yes as per National meetings and GP's you'll have 240v AC 60 Amp RCD protected power (can power a TC national with 80+ racers) but as Dom says bringing an extension reel is advisable.
This together with a compressor, PA system and AMBrc timing should make for a fun race :)
I have a pass out from the wife so see you all Sunday for some off road fun.
Dan
Dom

Thanks Dan - forgot about all the "perks".
Air compressor is a real plus. No matter the state of the car, the air compressor blows all the muck off before you have to open the shell. Joy!
Makes me wonder why no-one had one 15-20 years ago - were they that dear?
Anyway. It's there for all - enjoy!

Sunday was a big success - Dan Rowlands taking top honours in 4WD and Ross Irwin in 2WD.
Full results on Oople tomorrow night.
Next event on 13th June - Falkirk - Bowhouse Community Centre.
This series is generating lots of good feedback and possibly three or four stalwarts of the original Off-Road scene, are about to make a comeback!
Competition is hotting up and it's looking very good for a full resurgence.

Information on Round 2
Dom
7th June 2010, 01:28 AM
Sorry but there has to be a change to one of the CSOR dates, the last round.
This round was going to be on Sept. 19th, run by Ayr, at the CSOR track.
It needs to be brought forward and so it will now be on June 27th 2010.
All remaining dates are to continue as planned.
27th June will now become Round 3; all subsequent rounds will increment (3,4 & 5 become 4,5 & 6)
This makes the last round of the championship the Stonehaven round on August 29th 2010.
Apologies if this mucks up anyone's plans, but it couldn't be helped.

Just a note to say I've got too many forums to update now, so I'll only be posting new stuff on Oople, under the Scotland section.

I have to agree.
I popped along to check things out and was surprised at the amount of interest its generating.
There was a buzz at the meeting, something that has been seriously lacking in Scottish racing recently.
I think that the days of touring cars are numbered now with many people losing interest for various reasons.
This provides a well needed change and brings back the fun factor in racing.
Looks like Off Road is back.

Ross,
Great pics. Only one note - pic of my 2WD - it's actually a Losi.
If I had the Tamiya 2WD, it'd be going a lot better than my "Frakenstein's monster"...
Hopefully, if a new chassis arrives before 27th, I'll have it back to a proper RE XXX-Cr for next round. I'll be able to keep it in a straight line then!
Thanks also to John for another fantastic event.
So glad we kept this going - I haven't enjoyed my racing so much in years.
Bring on CSOR on 27th - I'll be leaving here about 6 to get down there before 8am...

Good days racing today at CSOR. The track conditions made for some challenging racing indeed and it appeared to be fairly hard on the buggies, however I think most people managed to make the most of it. Weather was fairly good, although the windy conditions made it interesting.
I have posted a gallery of pictures up on the EKMCC website. Check out the gallery in the link below

Can i just add that i had a brilliant day on Sunday. 22 yrs since i last ran a buggy and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I started building my TRF201 on Friday, finished it on Sat afternoon and was all ready to go and try and not embarass myself against all the more experienced 2wd buggy runners. Much to my surprise i TQ'd and won the 2wd event, not what i was expecting but can i say that my buggy was an absolute joy to drive. This TRF201 just seemed to do whatever i wanted it to do effortlessly and i was able to settle into a rythm with it. Will deffo be at the next off road national and thanks for having me.
Now to get ready for friday night Touring......

Yeah I have to wait until the BRCA 1/10th off road publish the national dates as no regional event can be held on the same weekend as a National event.
The 1/10th off road committee will be agreeing the dates at a meeting at the end of this month (november), so soon after that I'll be intending to have our meeting/agm to finalise details for the Scottish Off Road Regional Championship (SORRC)
