i still think he was robbed because mark would never have taken first if he didnt take john out but hey thats racing and race directors not watching lol

To be honest, I thought there was something not quite right aswell, the positions just didnt seem to turn out the way I had them in my head. Don't know where Bickerstaff came from, as I thought he had binned it early in the leg. Looking at the video on ddrcc.co.uk made me wonder about this aswell.

I was a bit worried at the time as David Haddow was operating the computer at the time, and issued the penalty, and no offence intended but I would rather that he had waited untill derek or someone with more knowledge of the software had arrived on scene to look at it, as there was a bit of confusion when the penalty was originally given to the wrong person and then removed and added to someone else, now this could have easily thrown the results out.

Maybe someone (possibly derek) should take a look at it just to be sure, but I don't know if I'm even anywhere near right.

Just adding up all the lap times from the race in excel.

Everything looks ok,

Total of Mark's Laps was 23 - 300.086 so adding 10 secs onto that gives us the time that he actually was given.

Still looking into it but as I say I don't know

having watched the second leg video again you can clearly see a car going off the track in a big way however it was not alan bickerstaff as him and mark gilliland can both be seen in the same shot but if you watch the video again alan bickerstaff never went off or got taken out, i for one didnt notice when alan passed peter but if you watch the video again, at 5 mins 14 in peter bins it at the chicane in front of the rostrum and gets caugt on the wrong side of the roadraill and alan passes on the inside, in the end mark had efectivly won the leg by a lap as he was just behind john at the line but john got through to start lap 23 where mark was just finnishing lap 24 and his time would have been a 24.0.... something or other but with 10 second penalty that works out at a 23.10 which is what he has and john is a good 13 second lap down on him. however i must say i am strongly of the opinion that mark gilliland should have been removed from the leg 2 results completley as he cost john the title and blatently ignored the instructions given out at the drivers briefing, better is expected of a driver of his stature, even though peter philips was away in the lead he was tripping over back markers all over the place and i think john would have took the win or worst second in that leg as alan and mark tangled more than once and a gap was beginning to open up between john and them, i was at race control during the confusion and i can say that the original penalty was given to alan by derek kerr before i corrected derek and told him it was mark that should have got it and he did correct both times there and then as he made a point of anouncing them to try and solve the confusion, i guess in the heat of the moment they may have been missed, i think the biggest problem was that the corrected results were not printed and that god dam wireless **** derek insists in using wasnt working so the results upstairs were not accurate to take into account the penalties given. however watching the video, i wish i was wrong but the result is right

and just to add on to scottys post, i for one will not be at stonhaven this year for reasons i made very clear to george's mrs on sunday, rob nelson will be there so i wont be. he left a very sour taste after his attitude on sunday mornings drivers briefing last year.
