Running an SPX on mode 8 with team wave linear 13.5 fixed timing geared at 4.9 for Falkirk and motor temps between 80 ad 85 C.
It is quick but just wondering what can I do to get a bit more speed out of it or have I maxxed it out already?
Was reading on racechat if I remove drag brake and initial brake it will help the motor to run cooler.

gear down a shed load... i ran my spx at about 7.5:1 with my orion 13.5
higher gearing means you dont get onto the boost

Thanks Chris that confirms what I was already thinking about the gearing being wrong. So looks like I will need to drop 10 teeth to achieve a similar ratio to what you describe.

I was gonna but after the hassle of having to return two ESC's to the states I sold the replacement they sent me and bought KC's SPX. Have got enough to fiddle with and learn without carrying a laptop around to adjust ESC settings. Having had 3 LRP's now I have never had any problems and prefer having a simpler approach to my racing.

Just not updatable and we don't need to carry a laptop around with us as the programming can be done from home. 208 has simpler profile set ups that you can do with the mode button. I'd rather be able to update my speedo rather than get left behind and have to purchase another speedo. In LRP's defence they're releasing another range of speedos that can be programmed using a laptop, they're catching up lol.

Scotty I know they are not updateable but for what I paid for it it is still good and reasonably competitive. I had spend nearly £100 posting stuff back to Tekin for repair/replacement and missed several weeks of racing as a result so got fed up waiting.
KC had the SPX available so took the opportunity so I could go racing. Will wait till next year and see what is on the market then but in the mean time want to get to grips with gearing etc to learn whats going on with the SPX before maybe looking into motors with adjustable timing too.
Roll on Friday!:-D

Last Friday went well the car is on rails. Had changed the gearing to 7.65 but seemed to lack some rip. Next heat dropped another couple of pinion teeth and cranked the timing up on the LRP X11 to max. It was more rapid but came off at 135 deg C!!!
So dropped the timing for the final to about half way and the temp reduced to 105 which is still too high.
Am thinking that if I go up some teeth on the spur as I don't have any smaller pinions and either turn the timing down a bit it will be better and hopefully cooler.
