Hi, anyone else got the teamtrinity email yet, looks like a Checkpoint with elliptical brushes and alloy endbell heatsink, the website only shows the modified ones at present, so have asked them when will it be available in UK and will they be getting it BRCA approved; would be a great motor if it was by the look of the spec and overall looks IMHO

Malky,
If what you describe is what I am thinking, I've had some mod motors with these endbells they are good, been around for a while - I prefer checkpoints style of endbell though.
The type of endbell is called Epic "Shock", the brushes are octagonal.

Hi Malk
The Trinity email states that this motor is supplied with a "hand wound" armature, BRCA rule No 8.7 states:-
"The armature will be wound using a single wind of round 19 AWG (American wire Gauge) copper wire giving 19 Turns. It is not mandatory to use the ‘Mabuchi’ cross wrap technique for winding the armature, (as stated in section 7.10). There is no plus tolerance on the wire diameter. Armatures must be machine wound, ‘hand winding’ is not permitted. It is not mandatory to use a locking device between the commutator and the armature stack., (as stated in section 7.9)"
In this format this motor will not be homologated onto the BRCA list, if memory serves me correctly at the club AGM when it was voted to allow use of "non BRCA homologated motors" there was also a clarification raised that this rule should not include Hand Wound armatures either so I don't think these could be used at the club either (in touring cars).
Looks pretty though.

Forgot to check handbook Colin, stand corrected on that and club rules. Dan in the email they dont say what type brushes, just latest addition to their shock range so I went to their websit and they say there elliptical; but as you say at present I prefer the Checkpoint, for my 19 turns, but another good motor for me is Axiom, with which I am replacing my stocks as required, rather than skimming etc.
Pity they are machine wound though it would have been a good alternative to the Checkpoint.

Cool Malky, sorry wasn't trying to be a know-it-all about brushes ;)
I was quite dissapointed with the 19T checkpoint money motor though.

you could and no one would know anyway, I think my motor has been checked about twice in the 10 years I've been racing at FRCC
