Default The reason for my lack of racing recently!

Well it's been one hell of a project - but since there's finally and end in sight I thought I would stick some pics up of the latest full size project that has taken over a year to get this far

It's one of the old MG Works touring cars... lovingly restored to (almost) it's former glory having sat in a breakers yard for the past 2 years being abused and damaged.

Unfortunatly I couldn't afford the BTCC spec engine or gearbox (£25k and £8k respectively!!!! ) so it's the return of the 2 litre tubro engine from my last track toy.

Apart from that everything has been kept as close to full BTCC spec as possible. Custom 1-off coilovers were made by Avo, the bodykit was totally re-built, the paint was stripped right back (it had 8 layers of the stuff in places!!) and various other bits custom made to fit.

If anyone wants more info on it feel free to comment or PM me, a full record of the build will be appearing on a new website for the car (not quite finished yet) and the build pictures are on my facebook page:

Nice car am sure I saw this at Ingleston recently and was well prepared. An integra may have been a better choice as far as chassis and handling go judging by how well the guy that has one is doing in the BTCC against the bigger teams but at least its turbo'd so should have plenty of grunt and tuneability.
Will need a massive intercooler and plenty of airflow through it to get the best out of its performance.
What series will you be racing in and have you got your race licence yet?

Yeah it was at Fast & modified last month, it's first time out in the public eye since the overhaul!

I wasn't orignally planning on buying a touring car - it kinda happened by accident. A good friend runs Dreadnought garage in Callender and with them being an MG specialist it made sence to have an MG track car. I've had both a ZR and ZS road cars in the past and know how fantastic a car they are in standard form.

I originally started with a ZR Turbo track car (it was bright orange, sure there's pictures of it on here somewhere!) but after a few track nights the engine was needing alot of work. It went to a specialist for the T series engine down in stoke and I discovered he had one of the spare Touring Cars stashed at the the back of his unit.

I sold him the ZR and started work on the ZS BTCC... ending up how it is now

No plans to race it yet. It'll just be a track toy next season as I'm currently pit crew for Dreadnought's TF in the MG Trophy. If funds permit I'll look into possibly racing it - but with it being one of the last ones left it would be daft to risk any damage in a normal race series - plus saloon car racing is silly expensive these days.

We'll see what happens

Cool, well look out for a red RS turbo with black wheels at Knockhill as I will be coming straight throo, lol.

Actually I think there is now a new category for race cars which you probably be with the MG and I won't cos mine is road legal (barely).
